How to do Wool Felting, Needle Felting, Silk Painting Workshops
At this time I have NO firm commitments for upcoming workshops. But do plan to lead classes at Shearbrooke and Pleasant Mountain in the summer.
(Or What the Heck is She Up to?)
Wool felting and silk painting, wool and silk, my mantras. As a matter of fact I plan to lead several "How to" Wool Felting, Needle Felting, Silk Painting Workshops this year.
I make all sorts of stuff from traditional wool felting & needle felting, fantasy creatures, fairies, mermaids, unicorns and even Santa Clause have been seen hanging out in my studio. Beautiful hand painted silk scarves adorn my shelves, lampshades and windows, sometimes I even wear one! I love to teach others how to do wool felting, needle felting, silk painting, and lead workshops making said fairies, mermaids, unicorns, dogs, masks, etc.
So here is a schedule of the classes I am planning on teaching this year along with a show or two. I plan to add more as they come along so check back often if you have a desire to learn how to work with lovely, warm, soft aromatic wool and slinky, soft, sensuous silk scarves.

Silk Painting is my Bag, Baby!
400 Saco Rd., Standish, Maine---July 17 & 18, 2009
This year's classes were so great. The economy didn't affect attendance much and everyone had a wonderful time. Karen Smith was gracious as always, and all the participants and instructors enjoyed two full days of fun, food and instruction. Thank you everyone for making this year's workshop possible.
We look forward to seeing all of again next year at the Shearbrooke Summer Workshop. You can keep up with our happenings by going to the Saco Valley Fiber Arts web site Here is the site link:

Wooly Woofs at Down Home & Company!
This was a wonderful workshop and there were many beautiful dogs made by beautiful women. Sad to say Rindy has decided to close her shop. Happy for her, sad for the rest of us. She and Peter plan to travel and pursue other endeavors. We wish you the VERY BEST of LUCK Rindy and Peter. We LOVE you.

This is Jax, a beautiful example of one of my student's work. This lovely boy was needle felted by my friend Sue, of Camp Micah fame. She sent me this picture of her work and the original boy who inspired her. Great work Sue!

Feltie Sheltie this precious pup was done by one of my students in the Wool Woof Workshop at Down Home and Company in August, she has a living counterpart to this little cutie at home named Otter! I love it!
So you see, you can do this, it is fun and you will amaize yourself. These make the BEST gifts too! Hmmmm...
My sweet friend Sue Mills is a felter extraordinaire and a mixed media artist. She does set design, photography for published books... I'm not sure if there is anything she cannot do...you can see her stuff for yourself at:

Big Daddy Event of the Year!
October 3-10, 2010
Yessah, THE BIG ONE! Ayuh!
The Fiber Center at
Fryeburg Fair
We don't have workshops per se at the Fryeburg Fiber Center during the Fair, but all week long, the dedicated women and men of many different fiber, spinning, weaving and craft groups demonstrate "how to" from 9am to 9pm every day that the gates are open. OK so we close at 6pm on the last Sunday, but we are at it overtime the other days. Come rain or shine you can find us hard at play showing and explaining how to do our craft/art to anyone who will listen. It is a tiring week but also very fun and fulfilling. Many folks come by every year and it is the only time we ever see each other. Yes there is such a thing as a Fair Friend. I have many I am proud to know.So if you have a spare hour or two or even a whole day, come on over and watch us spin wool, do wool felting, card fiber, and don't forget the fleece show and judging competition at the great Fryeburg Fair, Miane's Blue Ribbon Classic, the first week of October, we'll be there with the lights on, Ayuh.
As it so happens I was the featured artist two years ago at the Fiber Center at Fryeburg Fair. The pictures that follow are some of the pieces I made over 2007/08 for the show at Fryeburg. It was a wonderful challenge and was very well received. I have opened an ETSY shop. You can go there by following this link:

"Morning" 36" x 36" Acrylic on stretched canvas. This one painting got a lot of attention at the show. This is how I envision the spirit in trees greeting the rising sun. Simple joy in the glow and warmth of a beloved sun. hmmmm...
$850.00 plus shipping and handling and sales tax if applicable

"Rain" 36" x 36" Acrylic and wool on stretched canvas. This painting also got a lot of attention at the show. Imagine the arrogance of the spirit of the rain as she moves across the land, sending her blessing upon rich, poor, old, young, without prejudice or choosing...
$850.00 plus shipping and handling and sales tax if applicable

"Focus" approx. 13" across, made of felted wool, fused glass and copper tubing. I love the way sand dollars look and feel, so organic and appealing, this was my focus when creating the felted wool base for this piece. The textures of the component parts all work in harmony to bring the piece together in to one "Focus".
$250.00 plus shipping and handling and any taxes that apply.
I will be adding more photos of my work from the fair as I get the chance, so stay tuned...yessuh!
