Wool fiber, knitting, spinning, felting its all good!

"Charlie the Unicorn" 14.5"x14" Needlefelted Wool and Silk fiber on a wire armature. $100.00 plus shipping/handling

This site is mostly about fiber, mainly wool fiber but silk and cotton and other odd fibers play a role in my obsession as does clay. Wool is a wonderful thing, warm, light, smelly, curly and just plain wonderful. It is great dyed, or natural, spun, woven, knitted or felted. Wet or dry it has a hold on me from which I am not willing to be freed. There is a thrill to seeing a virgin fleece sitting in a heap just waiting to have a hand plunged into its greasy depth. The feeling of freshly carded, clean wool slipping through my fingers when spinning is ecstasy. And to use that wool yarn to knit up a pair of socks, mittens, a hat or, my favorite, a doll/creature, is a very satisfying thing. Then there is the wool felting process. I love wet, traditional and dry, needle felting to the extent of being obsessed with them. Not a day goes by that I don't do some felting. I even dream of felting when I'm not actually doing the deed.

Small Wild Wooly Thing $15.00

I am an obsessive compulsive creator. I make lots of creatures/things every day. Masks, unicorns (Charlie the Unicorn included), horses, mermaids, funny animals, dogs, cats, pigs, fairies, gnomes, angels, frogs, wild things and Santa Clause all come from my hands on a regular basis. I love to make them all and to see them sitting about on every flat surface. It is sculpting with wool, which is a loving, warm and forgiving medium, did I mention that I love it? Over the years of doing shows and demonstrations I have also learned that I love to teach. I teach several workshops a year and they include lots of laughter, fun and yes, wool. I am always so happy to see the different creatures and works that come from the hands of my students. Everyone has a creative spirit; sometimes they just need a little nudge to awaken that creativity.

So welcome to my home page and my web site in general, please make yourself at home and look around. Mostly relax and enjoy, this is a fun ride, life, if you take the time to smell the coffee, roses and wool.

I have a small flock of Icelandic sheep, my babies, so dear and beautiful and wild. Most of the ladies have horns as do most of the rams, though I have been told by city slickers who seem to know better than I, that only rams have horns and that I must be mistaken about the ewes having horns. Imagine that horned ram’s surprise when he gave birth to triplets one bright March day! Oh my! Speaking of lambs, they are here again. New babies, all curly and sweet.
